Statement Of Solidarity

We are deeply saddened and outraged by the recent deaths of Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Akai Gurley, Rumain Brisbon, countless others, and the states decision not to indict the officers involved in their murders. But we realize that this is nothing new, and that police are the domestic army of the state. We stand in solidarity with the rebellions in Ferguson, New York, Oakland, across the rest of the country and the world. To reduce these uprisings to so called “riots” is insulting. This is a unified mass movement against oppression, mass incarceration, and the institutional racism that is the United States government. This is the same struggle that has been fought for the last 500 years. The police have never been here to serve and protect the people, but to keep us in line, to protect the state, possessions of the rich, and the system of inequality itself.  Yes the police are doing exactly what their supposed to, and we at Genuine Press stand in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters who are waging this historic battle for freedom, for love, and for equality. We are so inspired by this sustained protest movement, the longest sustained protests in the U.S. since the Montgomery Bus Boycott. So to the people of Ferguson, of New York, and those rebelling across the country; we stand with you as soldiers as comrades, as friends, and as family. Stay strong and don't give up the fight. It’s going to be a long one and we are pleased to see so many people answering the call of history and we are proud and honored to answer it with you.

with love in struggle,
Donel
